My travel bucket list is always growing. There are so many incredible places in the world and I am currently itching to go somewhere new and exotic. My current obsession is with all things tropical. Any place with palm trees, crystal blue water, and fresh fruit is a perfect spot for me. These are my top five current bucket list destinations.
I often daydream about eating fresh fruit and taking morning swims around an over water bungalow in Tahiti. The beautiful white sand and turquoise waters help make up the 118 tropical islands including Moorea and Bora Bora. Tahiti is literally the perfect place for a relaxation vacation. You can stay right on the water (literally), take boat tours to explore the area, eat lunch on your own mini island, and experience some of the most amazing snorkeling. I probably wouldn’t want to leave my bungalow except to swim with the friendly neighborhood sting rays and sharks… no seriously. Check out Tahiti’s 20 best overwater bungalows here.
US Virgin Islands
The US Virgin Islands are perfect for those who want to go on a tropical getaway without having to travel too far. Don’t have a passport? No worries! These islands have something for everyone whether you like to vacation on a luxury yacht or drink rum under a coconut palm on the beach (or both). I have been dreaming of staying in a brightly colored little beach shack, exploring the street markets and dancing to the local music of the Caribbean. Just thinking about it makes me want to get on a plane tomorrow.
The Bahamas have been on my bucket list for a while now. There’s something about the incredible ocean visibility and island of swimming pigs that seems to be calling my name. The Bahamas have some of the clearest water on earth so it’s no wonder why this spot is such a diving destination. Sunken ships, underwater caves, coral reefs, and lots of fishy friends. On my to do list: Taking a boat trip to Big Major Cay to visit my pink nosed friends.
When I think of a surfer’s paradise I think of the Maldives. These teeny little tropical islands in the Indian Ocean barely escape getting washed away at such a low sea level and make up one of the most complex set of atolls in the world. These islands are lined with endless beach houses and water bungalows that make for the perfect remote getaway. My dream vacation? A Maldives surf trip.
Bali is another great surfing destination with totally different vibes. Bali is one of those places that doesn’t even really seem real because it is so breathtakingly beautiful. Here you can find incredible temples, museums, volcanoes, national parks, tropical beaches and reefs. I also hear they have some of the world’s rarest coffee. I’m sold.
