Last weekend I explored the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, CA. I had never been to the festival before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but it ended up being a really fun day. We walked around and saw work by hundreds of incredible artists who showcased their photography, paintings, jewelry, handmade goods, and more. There was such a wide range of art and I kept finding little gems around every corner. It was impossible to be bored! One of the little gems that I discovered was Laguna Sunshine by local artist Nansea Williams. Her whimsical style and adorably inspiring wood block art caught my attention and instantly brightened my mood.

Walking up to her booth was like entering wonderland. Inspirational quotes and the cutest little characters lined the walls and made my heart happy. I seriously wanted to take everything home – who doesn’t love pink sprinkle donuts smiling at you?

She also sold colorful handmade rings made from buttons and trinkets. The booth has a young vibe so it was loved by kids but equally by adults. I’m a sucker for anything bright, sparkly, happy and hand drawn.

This is the 49th annual Sawdust Art Festival which brings over 200,000 visitors from around the world each year making it the most visited summer festival in Southern California. Adult tickets are only $8.50 so it is the perfect summer adventure! Want to check out Laguna Beach after? Hop on the totally free Laguna Beach Trolley to explore the area. It stops every 20 minutes and runs 9:30am-11:30pm all summer long. It is so convenient and saves you the hassle of finding beach parking (and feeding a meter every three hours… so annoying!). There is a big parking lot next to the Sawdust Art Festival and you can park all day worry free. The trolley drivers are so friendly and can tell you the best places to go in Laguna Beach. My favorite little shop on the beach front was Juice & Shakes. I follow a vegan diet and this place had everything for that! Coconut milk ice-cream, fruity smoothies and ace bowls, and even home made almond butter. The girls working behind the counter were so nice and my mint chocolate chip ice-cream was absolutely delicious!

Positive thinking is something that I find really important. Nansea makes THE CUTEST positive affirmation wood blocks. We ended up purchasing three to support local artists but mostly because we couldn’t resist the cuteness! They are like little good luck charms and rays of sunshine.

Mermaids, Owls, & Princesses oh my! I love her drawing style – it is so unique and she brings a new vibe to classic Disney princesses. Laguna Sunshine has something for everyone – mermaids for the beach lovers, big eyed dolls for the whimsical spirits, and Elsa portraits for those of you who know every word to Let It Go (don’t even try to deny it). I want to be that mermaid hehehe.

Nansea was so sweet and uber talented! We had a really great time at the Sawdust Art Festival this year. I would really recommend checking it out! The festival runs through August 30th and will fill your day with good vibes and great art. Peace, Love, & Laguna Sunshine
