Sunday March 22, 2015 aka day three of our adventure down undah! Today is the day I have been waiting for for over a year! We are off to the famous Bondi Beach and I am beyond excited. We stop for breakfast at a little cafe near the park then take a train to Bondi Junction. A ten minute bus ride later and we made it to Bondi. I instantly fell in love – Beach shops and little cafes line the beach walk, street art takes up the walls near the sand, groms are competing in a surf contest, wipeouts happen in the skate park, and tons of surfers are trying to catch waves. The energy is alive and the vibes are good. I like this place.
Bondi street art in the making.
Grom in the bowl. Killer skate park.
We stop into a surf shop and buy board shorts, a rash guard, towels, and I score a spring suit I have been wanting that just so happens to be my size and on sale. Sweet deal. We wander on down to the sand and grab a spot close to the water. It is gloomy but gorgeous. We go for a swim and get pummeled in the strong surf. It was the funnest swim I’ve had in a while. Big waves, warm water, and happy people everywhere. The sun even decided to make an appearance.
After a little beach sesh we head back up to grab some lunch. We can’t decide on anything and end up at a cute little cafe with a rad view of the water. Brian got a steak sandwich and I go for the strawberry pancakes. I can’t resist a breakfast all day menu haha. Brian ended up spilling half a bottle of barbecue sauce all over his fries and I can’t help but crack up over it. Hehehe good times.
I insisted that we walk over to Bondi Icebergs Club after lunch. I have been dying to see the swimming pool next to the ocean – it is so cool! I have been quite obsessed with this specific spot for a while so standing here myself was pretty awesome. It’s a great view of the whole beach.
We made our way back to the boardwalk and laid on the grass until it was too cold to stay any longer. We took the bus back into the city, took a nap, then headed out again for some dinner. We were both pretty exhausted so we grabbed some takeaway street food. Then it was back to the hotel and straight to sleep. Tomorrow we have to wake up at 4:30am to go to the airport. We’re going to Cairns for two days!
Today was another great day in Sydney. Beach days are my favorite and I was extra excited to be at Bondi. Good vibes, lots of laughs, and stellar views. You really can’t beat it.
